Surcompensation
La supercompensation est un modèle théorique qui explique le processus d'adaptation du corps à un stimulus d'entraînement spécifique. Ce concept est basé sur l'état d'équilibre dynamique, appelé homéostasie, qui régule toutes les activités de notre corps. Toute condition qui perturbe cet équilibre est immédiatement compensée, dans la mesure du possible, par une réaction égale et opposée, visant à ramener le système à l'équilibre.
Le processus de fatigue et de détérioration induit par l'exercice physique est ainsi compensé par une série de réactions, destinées à augmenter les processus de régénération anabolique.Ces réactions peuvent être interprétées comme un système de défense de l'organisme qui, à travers elles, tente de reconstruire l'équilibre perdu. .

Afin de ne pas succomber à la récurrence d'une charge de même intensité, l'organisme déclenche ainsi un processus de surcompensation, qui a pour but d'améliorer le niveau de performance initial.Les réserves métaboliques, le métabolisme et les différentes structures anatomiques stressées, donc ne reviennent pas à l'état initial mais, pendant un court instant, ils le dépassent, se plaçant à une valeur légèrement supérieure.
Tout le concept de surcompensation (processus d'adaptation de l'organisme à des charges de travail progressivement croissantes) repose sur cette capacité.
Pour que la surcompensation ait lieu, il est nécessaire que le stimulus d'entraînement respecte certaines caractéristiques fondamentales. Tout d'abord, l'effort physique doit atteindre ou dépasser un seuil limite, afin d'induire un stress physique important.Si la charge appliquée était trop faible, le processus de surcompensation n'aurait pas lieu.
Seuls les stimuli de volume, d'intensité et de fréquence adaptés aux capacités physiques du sujet, stimulent la surcompensation ou l'adaptation.
Pour exploiter cette caractéristique, l'exercice physique doit prendre en considération divers paramètres, tels que : l'intensité, la durée, la densité, le volume et la fréquence du stimulus, les objectifs, les méthodes, les contenus et les moyens d'entraînement. Ces éléments caractérisent la charge EXTERNE (objectif), mais il existe également une charge INTERNE, qui varie d'une personne à l'autre, qui représente le type d'effets que l'exercice induit sur un organisme spécifique (importance d'un suivi continu à travers le journal d'entraînement).
Importance de la récupération
Si la charge d'entraînement est excessive et n'est pas compensée par une période de récupération adéquate, un état dangereux de surentraînement est créé, avec une baisse ou une stagnation des performances.
